My Reason for Second Harvest

 Second Harvest Food Bank has a strong connection with me for a multitude of reasons. When I first heard about campaigning for a non-profit, and I saw Second Harvest on the list, I immediately knew that it would be the right decision for me. 

Back home, I was able to have the opportunity to run my very own food drive to three different local food banks for my senior year, and it was truly an amazing moment. Seeing all the families' faces light up as a result of your work was unlike any other feeling. 

Second Harvest has done its part to provide meals to all of East Tennessee, and with our collaboration, we hope to help continue the progress they have already achieved. The truth is simple: no one can thrive on an empty stomach, and with help from Second Harvests, we can help feed the community one donation at a time.

Group blog workshop

We are Five for Harvest, a group of University of Tennessee students working together to raise funds for Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, an organization that feeds hope by providing meals to families across 18 counties in our region. The purpose of this organization is to help these desperate families that don't have access to food or it is very hard for them to get food. The answer is simple: no one can thrive on an empty stomach. It doesn't matter who it is a child in school, a parent working tow jobs, or a senior living alone, Second harvest always ensures that the community doesn't have to choose between paying bills and eating dinner.

  Second harvest partners with schools, shelters and hundreds of local non profits to fight food insecurity. Every dollar raised helps provide three meals to people in need every single one of those meals matters. Together, we can make hunger one less thing our neighbors have to worry about.

You might be wondering what experience do I have that relates to any of this, Will I worked at a food bank in my time in high school every weekend helping out the less fortunate and it would always bring a smile to my face when they saw they were getting food and we were helping people in need, I loved doing that and seeing everyone smile, and that's why you all should donate it would be very beneficial and great for the Second harvest food bank.

 Five for Harvest is a team of University of Tennessee students coming together to support the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. The Second Harvest of East Tn feeds families and those in hunger across 18 counties in East Tennessee.

How can donating to a food bank make a real difference? The answer is simple. Whether it’s a child trying to stay focused in class, or a parent balancing multiple jobs, or an elderly neighbor living alone, Second Harvest is set on getting good nutritious food to those in hunger.

Second Harvest partners with schools, small fundraising groups, and local non-profits in order to to reach their full potential. Donating any amount of shelf sustainable food is what it takes to keep families fed.
